WEP or WPA2

Many not IT person have this question when they first time setup their router/modem at home for internet connection.

WEP uses RC4 stream encryption, for a fresh key stream for each packet. It takes up to 3 minutes to break WEP.

WPA was designed to overcome WEP security problem. It uses RC4 stream encryption as well as integrated user authentication.

WPA2 uses strongest Advanced Encryption Standard protocol.

Long story in short always use WPA2 for modem/router encryption . If you have very old modem then it may not support WPA2. then you need to use WEP.
